This begins my documented quest towards 1000 all wheel horsepower:
My name is Chris LaClair. I live in Annapolis, MD (for the time being). For a living, I work as a software engineer for an Internet based company in Annapolis. I also help others with their web-based goals on the side.
My love for the 3000gt started in the mid 90's when I first laid eyes on the car. It was shortly after that I discovered the trim of the 3000gt that was almost 'exotic' in nature (at least to a 15 year old); the 3000gt vr-4. Ever since then, I obsessed over them. There are many vehicles I love and would love to own, such as the toyota supra, rx-7, and even a Ford Cobra Terminator, but for sheer nostalgic reasons, the vr4 had to be owned. I purchased my first 3000gt vr-4 in October of 2006. It was a fairly healthy car, 1992 with 85,000 miles, and handled very well. Unfortunately the driver, me, wasn't acclimated to its handling ability and ended up wrapping it around a tree three days later. I wasn't going to be outdone so quickly, however, and purchased a 1995 vr-4 three months later, in January of 2007. Later on, I found that it was probably better this way, as the second generation vr-4 has some nice qualities and advantages over the first generation, such as a forged crankshaft and forged rods, among other things.
Six months ago I decided I was going to go all out with this car. My first 'iteration' or stage, for this car was just to get into 'very quick' status. The end result was 523 all wheel horsepower. After this I was obsessed. So in the months to come, I will be logging, documenting, and posting my various trials, tribulations, and adventures in the quest for 1000 all wheel horsepower. Hopefully any readers that come across this will join in by reading my posts, and ideally, be able to use my blog as information they can use for their own vehicle.
